Setting up DrexTV on Android
Follow these in order. Menu paths are given exactly as they appear on the device, and the whole sequence takes about 3 minutes.
Step 1: Install a player from Google Play
Open the Google Play Store. Search for TiviMate if you want the best interface, or IPTV Smarters Pro if you want the simplest one. Both install normally, with no developer options and no APK files involved.
On an Android TV box, use the Play Store's on-screen search or the voice button on your remote — typing on a TV keyboard is the slowest part of this whole process.
Step 2: Choose the Xtream Codes login method
Launch the app and accept its terms. When it asks how you want to connect, choose Xtream Codes API. In TiviMate this appears as Add Playlist, then Xtream Codes.
Choose Xtream Codes rather than M3U. An M3U playlist gives you live channels and nothing else; Xtream Codes additionally exposes the seven-day programme guide, seven-day catch-up and the 140,000-title on-demand library, all from the same login.
Step 3: Enter your DrexTV credentials
Enter the three values from your DrexTV activation email: Username, Password and Server URL. The server URL includes a port number after a colon — include it, because the connection fails silently without it.
Credentials are case-sensitive. On an Android TV box, the fastest reliable method is to install the Google TV or Android TV Remote app on your phone and use its keyboard, which avoids remote-control typing errors entirely.
Confirm. The app authenticates and pulls the channel list and guide. A first sync takes 10 to 40 seconds depending on your connection, because it is downloading a very large guide.
Step 4: Tune the buffer and decoder settings
Open the player's settings. Set the video decoder to Hardware, which offloads decoding to the chipset and dramatically reduces heat and stutter on high bitrates.
Raise the network buffer. TiviMate calls this Buffer size under Playback; OTT Navigator exposes it as a millisecond value. Two to five seconds absorbs brief Wi-Fi dips at the cost of a slightly slower channel change, and on a wireless connection that trade is almost always worth making.
If you are on a wired Android box, you can leave the buffer low for near-instant channel changes.
Step 5: Set up groups, favourites and recording
Create a favourites group and add your regular channels. Then hide the country and category groups you have no use for — TiviMate and OTT Navigator both let you deselect entire groups, which turns a 24,000-entry list into something you can actually navigate.
If you are using TiviMate's recording feature, set the storage path to a USB drive or network share rather than the box's internal storage. A single 4K sports recording can exceed 8 GB an hour.

Use the phone remote app for typing
The official Google TV app turns your phone into a keyboard for your Android box. Given that mistyped credentials are the most common setup failure, this is the single most useful five minutes of prep you can do.
Disable battery optimisation on phones
Android aggressively suspends background network activity to save battery, which can drop a stream when you switch apps. In your phone's settings, find the player under Apps, then Battery, and set it to Unrestricted.
